Dental Conditions That Can Be Resolved With Dental Veneers

For a majority of people, teeth play a crucial role in their overall appearance. Thus, it is unsurprising that a good number of individuals will eventually find themselves concerned about the cosmetic aesthetic of their teeth. Fortunately, there are plenty of dental procedures that you could invest in if you want to correct imperfections with your smile. One such procedure is the application of dental veneers. Dental veneers are porcelain structures that are applied directly to the surface of your prepped teeth. If you have concerns about the appearance of your teeth, here are some of the dental conditions that can be reversed via dental veneers.

Broken teeth

One of the most common reasons why dentists will prescribe veneers is to treat broken teeth. Breaks that happen in teeth vary in degrees. For instance, one of the minor forms of damage is a small chip at the edge of your tooth that will change the appearance of your tooth slightly. Alternatively, you could get fractures in your teeth that are at risk of widening into larger cracks. Lastly, you could get half of the tooth broken off due to trauma. Irrespective of what type of break you get, it is essential to seek restorative therapy or you stand the risk of losing the entire tooth due to excessive wear. Dental veneers not only restore the integrity of the tooth but they also function to prevent future unnecessary damage.

Discoloured teeth

Stained teeth, without a doubt, are one of the most common complaints that people have about their oral state. And just like breaks, the severity of the discolouration will vary from one person to the nest. If your teeth are mildly discoloured, you will probably find that teeth cleaning from your dentist will restore the pearly-white appearance that you desire. However, if your teeth are severely stained, it can be challenging to eliminate the discolouration via professional whitening. If in-office bleaching will not work for your teeth, you may want to consider dental veneers. The porcelain overlays function to camouflage the pronounced discolouration of your teeth, which subsequently provides you with a brilliant smile.

Spaced teeth

Another dental imperfection that can affect your confidence is widely spaced teeth. The gaps in your teeth, however, are not simply cosmetic. When your teeth are not aligned correctly, it is likely you are unable to chew your food efficiently, not to mention that gaps enhance the rate at which bacteria get caught in-between your teeth and gums. Dental veneers help mitigate this problem by covering all the spaces you want to be eliminated.

Dental Health: Not To Be Taken For Granted

As a retired dentist, I work with charities which visit developing countries and educate children about dental care. It gives me great satisfaction to revisit these communities and see how proud the children are of their efforts. I am acutely aware that good dental hygiene can help prevent a range of serious conditions when these children become older. I started this blog because it greatly distresses me that many people in Australia do not seem to care for their teeth as much as children in these poor communities. This is happening despite ready access to items like toothbrushes and toothpaste which are luxuries in the places I visit. It is my hope that this blog encourages you not to take dental health for granted. My greatest wish is that you can be as inspired as the children I see in my charity work. Please read on and enjoy.
